Recap for AENY Meeting 3/29/07
Hey folks-
Once again, we’d like to thank you for helping make AENY a huge success. At our March meeting we showed a ton of cool stuff, but it would have been pointless if all of you weren’t there to see it. With our number going from 110 attendees to 120, it looks like we’re only going to grow. Again, people traveled in from all over to see both of our special presentations. Of course we could not have done it with out the room sponsorship from Pratt Manhattan, and the financial sponsorship from Adobe. |

So here’s our Recap – we started off the night with some pizza and drinks and then did our usual announcement thing. There was no point in dragging it out since you came to see Video Copilot Founder and Creative Cow leader Andrew Kramer work some of his usual magic – The stuff that can only be called Serious FX. He showed us why you need to look both ways before you cross, and why asking random strangers to smile can be scary – check out this video to see what you missed. He also gave us some insight into how working with 32 Bpc projects can really make a difference in the final result. |
| After being wowed by what After Effects can do, we were even more wowed by what After Effects will BE ABLE to do in the next version. In the first in-depth presentation of AE 8 anywhere, Adobe’s Steve Kilisky (product manager for AE from Ver. 3 - 8) demoed many of the new features found in AE CS3. He showed us a lot of cool stuff over 1 hour and 15 minutes, and it was still not enough time to see even close to everything. Fortunately we got to look at shape layers and the puppet tool, both of which will change the way Motion Graphics and character animation are done in the AE-verse. If only we had more time. But alas, you are New Yorkers, and time is money… |

After that, Dennis and Aharon handed out door prizes (oh, you know you want ‘em). We had over 20 prizes, together worth thousands of dollars! AJA gave away a Xena LHe video capture card (Value: approx. $1,500)! If that weren’t enough, GridIron Software flew a rep (Ben Piercey, pictured) out from Canada, just to give away the first 2 licenses of Nucleo Pro 2 (not yet released). Thank you to all of our generous sponsors (see below) for helping us make these meetings as successful as they’ve been. |
If you’ve just come to the website after hearing about our meetings, join us for our next meeting on May 15th (mpore info coming soon). We’d love to meet you and learn more about what you’re doing and of course, what you’re doing with After Effects!
We’ll be confirming the next meeting date shortly. Stop by our website (www.aeny.org) to stay updated, or visit the Adobe After Effects New York forum at Creative cow.
Again, thanks so much for your support, and we look forward to seeing you at the next meeting.
Best regards,
Aharon Rabinowitz & Dennis Radeke
